How many YouTube channels can you have in 2026?

Two official numbers, and they are not the same kind of limit. Switch between channels on a Google Account opens with: “You can manage up to 100 channels from one Google Account.” The same page says: “On YouTube, you can only use one channel at a time.” That 100 is the switcher figure on that Help page.

The second number sits on Verify your YouTube account: “We also make sure the phone number is linked to no more than 2 channels per year.” The same article repeats, under the maximum-accounts error: “To help prevent abuse, a phone number can only be associated with 2 channels per year.” Get access to intermediate and advanced features says the same thing in operator language: if you’ve already verified 2 channels with 1 phone number, you must verify a different phone number.

Guides that stop at “100 Brand Accounts, one email, you’re done” are answering the switcher question. Operators asking how many channels they can actually run are asking the verification, termination, and spam questions. Those are the ones that decide whether channel two still exists after channel one is taken down. Does the 100-channel cap mean you should stack Brand Accounts on one Google login?

Brand Accounts are how YouTube wants you to add a second name. Create a YouTube channel splits the flow: a personal channel that only you can manage, or a channel with a business or other name connected to a Brand Account so it can have more than one manager or owner. If the Brand Account already has a channel, you can’t create a new one on it — selecting that Brand Account switches you to the existing channel.

Manage YouTube channels is explicit about identity. “A Google Account is specific to just one person, so it uses one name and identity across all Google services, including on any YouTube channel that is connected.” You can use one Google Account to manage multiple Brand Accounts connected to YouTube channels, and you can manage them without signing out. That is convenience for a brand team. It is also one person, one Google identity, holding every Brand Account in the switcher.

YouTube even tells brands to split channels on purpose. Pick a strategy for reaching global audiences says to consider creating different channels for different languages or countries, and that “each individual channel will need ongoing maintenance and attention.” Allowed is not the same as isolated. A language split under one Google login is still the identity Help just called one person.

What happens if YouTube terminates one of your channels?

This is the sentence most “just use Brand Accounts” pages skip. Spam policy is written at network scope too. Spam Policy “applies to all types of content on YouTube, including unlisted and private content, comments, links, posts and thumbnails, and coordinated networks of channels.” If content violates that policy, YouTube “may suspend your monetization or terminate your channel or account.” A hundred Brand Accounts on one Google login is the opposite of isolation when that paragraph is the one that fires.

Intermediate features themselves sit behind the phone. A channel you cannot verify is a channel that cannot do the work a growth channel is for.

How does YPP 2027 change the math of running many channels?

On Aug 10, 2026, YouTube wrote that it is making “the first significant changes since 2018.” The blog: “New creators applying for YPP will need 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days.” “This update won’t impact creators already in YPP.”

Changes to the YouTube Partner Program uses the same bar with Help’s abbreviations: starting Feb. 1, 2027, entry thresholds for new creators change to 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20M qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, “in addition to still needing 1k subscribers.” “If you are already in YPP, your status is not impacted by this update.” Help also has a heading “Updated channel activity requirements”: “Starting February 1, 2027, your channel is considered active if you meet any of the following requirements.”

That is why “I have 100 Brand Accounts” is not a monetization strategy. Each new creator applying still has to clear 8,000 hours or 20M Shorts views plus 1k subscribers.
